Judaism Chistianity and Islam - Do you all believe masturbation is forbidden?

You all read the same chapters in Genesis about Onan withdrawing from his sister in law and spilling his seed for which God killed him. Do you all interpret that as a ban on masturbation? Just wondered if there was some variety in interpretation.
